Almost every day, we are forced to adjust our joys and sorrows in order to provide "emotional value" to others. Women, in particular, will be more likely to be asked to do this unpaid and exhausting job. Women are expected to take on more emotional labor, how to recognize the value of emotional labor and solve it in a balanced way?
In this issue of Titanium Sky Time Reading Moment Women's Day See, she series of special programs, we invited Xu Hang, a doctor of health psychology, an assistant researcher at the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the translator of "Emotional Value" to work with us. In this conversation, we will discuss a number of important topics:
1. How did you come into contact with the book "Emotional Value" and why did you want to translate it? What was your biggest challenge in the translation process? 2. What exactly does the "emotional labor" mentioned in the book mean?
3. Topic discussion: Getting married and marrying a wife is equivalent to recruiting a person who does housework without money?
4. Why does a woman's "**** always look so sudden? For women, the reason for their collapse is that they can't describe this emotional exhaustion (and this aphasia is also incomprehensible to most men).
5. Why do people have the stereotype that "women are nagging all day long"? What are the deeper reasons behind emotional labor?
6.Will the tiredness of "emotional labor" come from one's own internal friction at some point?
7. Women doing housework is equivalent to engaging in unpaid labor, for ordinary people, how to deal with and undertake such an emotional burden?
8. Love and marriage are not one-man shows, in heterosexuality, what do men need to bear, and what can they do now?
9. As the translator of this book, how does Mr. Xu Hang understand women's unpaid emotional labor, and what impact does it have on her personal life and work?
10. How should men and women use the ideas in the book to change their lives?
Xu Hang

Rose Hackman, author of Emotional Value, combines case studies and statistics to reveal the prevalence of emotional labor in society and the inequality between the sexes in emotional labor, where women are expected to take on more emotional labor. At the same time, she further elaborated on the disadvantaged situation of women in patriarchal societies. In addition, she also explains the essential causes and solutions behind emotional labor, showing us the way to change the status quo. Emotional labor is real, but it doesn't need to be a psychological burden. Recognizing the value of emotional labor is the key to freedom for all human beings.
