Qian Feng, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and member of the Standing Committee, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, suggested that the training of outstanding engineers should be accelerated.
From the perspective of actual training, the problems of engineering talents such as narrow professional knowledge, insufficient comprehensive ability, and lack of digital skills are more prominent. Qian Feng said that at present, the collaborative training of engineering talents by universities and enterprises has become a broad consensus, but an ecosystem for the collaborative training of engineering talents has not yet been established, and a joint force conducive to the construction of a large-scale team of outstanding engineers has not yet been formed.
To this end, Qian Feng suggested that the first is to build a training system for outstanding engineers in the new era. In terms of professional ability, it focuses on strengthening the education of students' basic knowledge in their professional fields, cutting-edge science and technology, experimental design and research, so that students have the basic knowledge and ability to solve complex engineering problems. In terms of digital skills, it is recommended to formulate general requirements for digital skills for all engineering students in China and supplementary requirements for various engineering majors, so as to promote colleges and universities to comprehensively promote the cultivation of digital skills for engineering students. In terms of the cultivation of general knowledge, it focuses on strengthening the cultivation of engineering economics, engineering ethics, internationalization ability, teamwork and communication, systematic and global thinking, and critical thinking, so that the cultivated outstanding engineers can better meet the needs of new industrialization.
The second is to innovate the training model of outstanding engineering talents. Strengthen the reform of theoretical teaching, build a "student-centered" teaching model, and accelerate the reform of classroom teaching by reshaping the grassroots teaching organization system and strengthening the teaching skills training of engineering teachers. Strengthen the reform of experimental teaching, actively use digital technology to carry out virtual experimental teaching, and improve students' ability to discover and solve problems through creative experiments. Strengthen the reform of practical teaching, build a first-class platform and engineering training center for the enterprise environment, and cultivate students' practical innovation ability. Provide students with a high-quality on-campus and off-campus practice platform to strengthen the integration of industry and education.
The third is to create a talent training ecology with deep integration of government, industry and academia. It is suggested that more effective measures should be introduced to guide enterprises to actively participate in the cultivation of talents in colleges and universities, such as providing tax reduction and exemption policies to enterprises that accept students' practice, and increasing talent training requirements when applying for high-tech enterprises, enterprise engineer titles, and enterprises applying for ** financial projects. Promote colleges and universities to further strengthen normalized exchanges with enterprises, and actively absorb constructive opinions from enterprises on talent training. Promote the formation of a culture and atmosphere for all parties to jointly cultivate outstanding engineers in the whole society, actively guide enterprises, especially state-owned enterprises, to take talent training as an important social responsibility, practice the mission of "educating people for the party and the country", and help promote new industrialization.
