Recently, the well-known organization Dell'oro released the changes in the revenue share of the world's five well-known communication equipment manufacturers in the 5G wireless equipment market from 2019 to 2023.
As shown in the figure below, Huawei has always been far ahead, ranking first in the world for five consecutive years, with a share of more than 30%, accounting for one-third of the world's share.
ZTE, another major telecommunications manufacturer in China, has also grown steadily from No. 5 in 2019 to No. 3 in 2021 and No. 4 in 2023, with a share of 15%.
It can be seen that China's two giants, together won about 47% of the global 5G wireless equipment sales market, close to half of the world's, and the results are remarkable.
Why are Huawei and ZTE performing so well in the 5G market? There must be many reasons, such as more advanced technology, higher equipment maturity, lower cost, and so on.
But there is a very important reason, I think everyone should be clear, that is, thanks to the strong support of the three major domestic operators, if the three major domestic operators do not fully support, the performance of Huawei and ZTE will never be like this.
Also according to Dell'oro's data, I will analyze and compare the global 5G wireless equipment revenue of Huawei and ZTE in the five years from 2019 to 2023, as well as the revenue in China.
As shown in the figure below, this is Huawei's sales revenue of 5G wireless devices for five consecutive years, including global revenue, overseas market revenue, and overseas market revenue proportion.
It can be seen that the revenue of the overseas market has not been high, and it will only account for about 26% in 2023, in other words, more than 80% of Huawei's revenue in the past few years has relied on the Chinese market, and even in 2023, more than 70% will rely on the Chinese market.
ZTE's performance is even more obvious, as you can see, ZTE's revenue, overseas market revenue has been about 10%, in other words, ZTE's 5G wireless equipment revenue, 90% of the Chinese market.
And who does the Chinese market rely on? Of course, it is the three major operators, China Mobile, China Unicom, China Telecom, and now China Radio and Television, because radio and television 5G has just started, so it is mainly the top three operators.
Without the strong support of these three operators, everyone should be able to predict how the performance will be. Therefore, it is not an exaggeration to say that Huawei and ZTE's 5G performance really has the great credit of operators. And this is probably where the confidence of Huawei and ZTE lies.
