Red Net Moment reporter Tan Qian reports from Hengyang

In the field of uranium mining and metallurgy in China, Ding Dexin is a well-known name.

Over the past 37 years, he has always been concerned about the "great plan of the country" and "the great plan of the province", keeping in mind the original mission of educating people for the party and the country, cultivating the forefront of uranium mining and smelting teaching and scientific research, establishing the only complete uranium mining and smelting discipline system in China, creating a high-level innovation team, and cultivating a large number of scientific and technological innovation talents.

Some people say that he is as his name suggests, both moral and artistic. Some people say that illness cannot destroy him, and difficulties cannot frighten him. And he said that he was just an ordinary teacher who did what he had to do.

On November 29, the Propaganda Department of the Hunan Provincial Party Committee held a release ceremony of "New Lei Feng in the New Era" in Changsha, and awarded the honorary title of the first batch of "New Lei Feng in the New Era" to 7 collectives and individuals.

"My scientific research direction is to do whatever the country needs."

Ding Dexin's WeChat personality signature is "Career is greater than the sky", so, what is his career?

Since 1984, Ding Dexin's lifelong career has been to ensure the safety of uranium, the "food" for the development of nuclear power and the nuclear industry.

The direction of my scientific research is to do whatever the country needs, and lead the team to charge and ensure the needs of the country. Ding Dexin said.

Uranium mining and smelting is the key core technology for the production of "nuclear industry food". In 1986, Ding Dexin came to Hengyang Institute of Technology (later Central South Institute of Technology, now University of South China) from Changsha Mining Research Institute to establish a major in mining engineering (uranium mining and metallurgy) to cultivate uranium mining and metallurgical talents. In 1988, Hengyang Institute of Technology enrolled the first class of 35 students majoring in mining engineering (uranium mining and metallurgy), and Ding Dexin was their class teacher.

In the 90s of the 20th century, China's development changed its focus, the nuclear industry experienced deepening reforms, and the training of nuclear talents fell into a downturn. Many young teachers have also gone to Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and many enterprises and universities have also sent invitations to Ding Dexin and promised to provide preferential treatment, "Even if this major is gone, the scientific research of uranium mining and metallurgy cannot be less." ”

At that time, domestic underground leaching uranium mining was still in the pilot test stage. In order to master the technology of ground leaching uranium mining as soon as possible, Ding Dexin took a simple luggage to the University of New South Wales in Australia to study Xi. Two years later, Ding Dexin received a sincere offer from the head of the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of New South Wales. But Ding Dexin declined the invitation because he was thinking about domestic affairs.

Ding Dexin, who returned to China after completing her studies, took root in the University of South China, teaching and educating people, and devoted herself to scientific research. So far, after 25 years of hard work, he has led the construction of the only complete discipline system for the University of South China in China's nuclear industry to train bachelor's, master's, doctoral and postdoctoral fellows in uranium mining and metallurgy.

Why are you obsessed with building a discipline system?Ding Dexin said that in order to ensure the safety of "food in the nuclear industry," the key is to train generation after generation of uranium mining and metallurgical professionals with the ambition of strengthening nuclear power and serving the country. At present, he has trained nearly 6,000 professionals for China's nuclear industry.

Every year when new students enter the school, Ding Dexin will send a message to students with the poem "Children are determined to go out of the countryside, and they will not return if they can't become famous", hoping that the students will join the ranks of "strong nuclear service to the country" and realize their own value.

"I'm not afraid that I won't be able to stand up, I'm just that I won't be able to do research again."

However, due to long-term and high-intensity work, Ding Dexin fell ill.

In May 2015, Ding Dexin suffered a stroke while revising the doctoral student's Ph.D.** and was admitted to the ICU for treatment. After being hospitalized, he asked not to tell anyone, fearing that he would cause trouble to others, even his own daughter. Half a month later, Ding Dexin was transferred to the First Affiliated Hospital of the University of South China for ** training. "The Red Army is not afraid of difficult expeditions, and thousands of rivers and mountains are just waiting for idle ......In his spare time, he used poetry again and again to motivate himself and train his brain, and he was worried that his brain would not be able to move like his body.

I'm not afraid that I won't be able to stand up, I'm just afraid of being treated as an idler, I'm afraid that I won't be able to do research anymore, and I'm afraid that I won't be able to take students anymore. Ding Dexin's "three fears" are a beating heart that can't be thrown away, can't be closed, and can't be cut by my country's uranium mining and smelting.

Since he was a soldier, he would not leave the position easily, and Ding Dexin stood up again. Semi-paralyzed after a stroke, he relied on his will to return to the podium and scientific research post he had in mind half a year later. The distance from his home to the laboratory is 1,327 meters, which used to take 18 minutes, but now he has to walk for 1 hour. Every time someone helped him, he politely declined.

It's hard to imagine a 63-year-old man with ankylosing spondylitis and a stroke standing on the podium all morning. This stroke made him realize that he wanted to create more value in his limited life and play his own song of "serving the country with strong nuclear weapons".

The descendants of Yan and Huang rose up together, aiming at the first-class, surpassing the first-class, and vowing not to stand at the head of the tide. Ding Dexin wrote this poem to encourage students to aim for first-class when doing scientific research, and stick to the industry and position.

To this end, Ding Dexin has set up a bilingual teaching course, "To aim for the world-class, we must first understand the world-class." English is a tool that students can use to quickly and directly understand the world's cutting-edge trends in related research topics. In the weekly group meeting, Ding Dexin will share the latest progress and development trends of relevant research topics that he has collected. He also often admonishes students that innovation requires not only mastering the cutting-edge trends of science and technology, but also going deep into reality to discover and raise problems.

In the past 37 years of teaching, Ding Dexin has taken the lead in overcoming key technologies such as "uranium ore heap leaching high-efficiency spray system", "high-flux ion exchange device" and "bioremediation technology of uranium mining and smelting contaminated sites", and has won the National Defense Science and Technology Award, Hunan Provincial Technological Invention Award, and Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award for many times. The research work he presided over laid a solid foundation for ensuring the safety of the "food" of the nuclear industry and the sustainable development of uranium mining and metallurgy.

It is hoped that we can cultivate more talents who are loyal to the cause of the country, especially the nuclear industry, and enhance our country's influence and status in the world. Ding Dexin said.

Even if he bends over, Ding Dexin has to go high on the peak of scientific research.

Even if you bend over, you have to go high on the peak of scientific research, and it is a figure like Ding Dexin who walks forward that redefines the new era, the new Lei Feng's struggle and love.
