When Zhu Di was the king of Yan, did his palace exceed the rules?
After Zhu Yuanzhang, the Taizu of the Ming Dynasty, established the Ming Dynasty, he set the capital in Nanjing. In order to consolidate the rule of the Zhu family, in the 3rd year of Hongwu, he divided his son into various places and used it to hold the territory. Among them, the fourth son, Zhu Di, was assigned to Beiping as the king of Yan, that is, the future emperor of Ming Chengzu. Of course, he may never have dreamed that this fourth child would become the emperor.
After the partition is completed, the great project of building the palace will begin. In the winter of the 12th year of Hongwu, the Yanwang Mansion was finally completed. After the completion of the Yanwang Mansion has four gates, three halls, a total of 811 houses, the scale is huge, magnificent. Because the scale of the Yan Palace, which is larger than the Qin Palace, and the Jin Palace, it is not even inferior to the imperial palace of Nanjing, the capital of the Ming Dynasty at that time.
Since the 13th year of Hongwu, 20-year-old Zhu Di has been stationed here since he became a feudal lord in Beijing. Later, the capital was moved to Beijing, which was regarded as returning to the old camp. According to the historical data "The Aftermath of the Dream of Chunming", Nanjing's Fengtian Hall is a building with nine rooms. The main hall of the Yanwang Mansion recorded in the "Records of Taizong of the Ming Dynasty" is eleven rooms wide, which is obviously beyond the regulations. According to Zhu Yuanzhang's consistent style, how could this be allowed to happen?
After the second emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yunwen, ascended the throne, some people began to discuss this matter. The regulations of the Yan Wangfu have also become Zhu Yunwen's handle for accusing Zhu Di. Zhu Yunwen characterized it as trespassing. However, it is also recorded in the "Records of Ming Taizong" that Zhu Di once made a self-defense in a book. It means that I live in the old palace of the Yuan Dynasty, which is the will of my father. I haven't renovated or expanded it for more than 20 years. Unlike other palaces, just because they use the old buildings of the Yuan Dynasty, how can they talk about trespassing? So that's the case, what about the regulation of Yanwangfu, in fact, Zhu Yuanzhang has already considered it, but if it can save this construction cost, why spend more money? So he agreed that the Yan Palace's mansion should be rebuilt with the old palace of the Yuan Dynasty.
Then the question arises again, which palace in the Yuan Dynasty was used to rebuild the Yanwang Mansion? In fact, the specific location of Yanwang's Mansion has been controversial until now.
There are two main ways of saying this. One says that it is in the main hall of the Yuan Dynasty, and the other is that it is on the west bank of the Taiye Pond, the West Inner Xingsheng Palace of the Yuan Dynasty.
The reason for the controversy is that there are relatively few accurate records about the Yanwang Mansion, and there is no way to conduct field investigations, because the Yanwang Mansion has been demolished. Just because the Yan Wangfu was demolished, this has also become one of the bases for the view that the Yan Wangfu is in the great inner hall of the Yuan Dynasty palace. Because the Forbidden City in Beijing was built on top of the palace of the Yuan Dynasty, as soon as the Forbidden City was built, these two were gone, which can also be explained.
But if this King Yan is in the Xineixing Holy Palace, this palace is not in the way at all, so why dismantle it? Therefore, there is a high probability that this palace is in the main hall of the Yuan Dynasty.
According to the record of the palace system of the Nancun dropout and cultivation, the main hall of the palace of the Yuan Dynasty is eleven rooms wide. This can also prove that the political hall of the Yan Wangfu and the carrying hall are the Daming Hall of the Yuan Dynasty.
