Generally, there are two commonly used methods of paving floor tiles - dry paving method and wet paving method, which of these two ceramic tile laying methods is good, many friends do not know very much, the following is an introduction to the advantages and disadvantages of dry paving and wet paving.
1. Dry paving method.
Dry paving method is the traditional way of paving floor tiles, different from wet paving method, dry paving should first lay a layer of dry cement mortar on the ground, by cement and sand in accordance with the ratio of 1:3, and then add a small amount of water to stir evenly, and then coat a layer of plain cement on the back of the tile, directly on the paved cement mortar.
Advantages: dry paving has better performance in flatness, and does not have high requirements for the flatness of the original ground, and can use dry cement to better control the flatness of the ground, and does not need to be leveled separately.
Since the cement mortar in dry paving has less moisture, dry paving can reduce the generation of hollow drums.
Dry paving has a higher technical content, requires more professional skills, and the construction cost is relatively high.
Dry paving will not damage the original ground structure like wet paving, will not damage the waterproof structure, and is suitable for occasions that need to be kept in the original state.
Disadvantages: Dry paving takes longer to construct than wet paving.
The thickness of the dry paving is thicker, which may affect the interior floor height.
Dry laying may result in insufficient adhesion between the tiles and the floor, causing the tiles to shake or rattle.
2. Wet paving method.
The so-called wet paving means that cement and sand are mixed into a soft and wet cement mortar in a certain ratio (1:5) with a little more water, and then a layer of plain cement is coated on the back of the tile, which can be directly pasted on the paved cement mortar.
Advantages: Wet paving increases the adhesion between the tile and the ground through cement mortar, making the tile more stable.
Wet bedding is especially suitable for humid environments, such as kitchen and bathroom spaces.
Wet laying is relatively simple to operate and relatively inexpensive.
Disadvantages: Heavy moisture in wet paving, which can easily lead to bubbles and hollowing of tiles, affecting the service life.
Wet paving has higher requirements for the flatness of the original ground, otherwise the floor tile paving will be uneven.
In fact, the wet paving of floor tiles has basically been eliminated, and it is replaced by a thin paste method, which can not only improve the bonding ability, but also will not affect the height of the space layer, but the cost is higher. Choose the right way according to your budget and actual situation.
