Mud Horse Crossing King Kang Did Song Gaozong Zhao Gou get divine help?

"King Mud Ma Dukang" tells the story of Zhao Yu, the founding emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty. Ancient emperors, especially the founding kings, had to be accompanied by mythological stories to emphasize the difference between emperors and mortals, attract people's attention, and establish authority. These stories often sound extremely bizarre, some from the hands of the emperor, some from the mouth of the Ministry of Works, and some from the mouth of the common people. ""King Kang on the back of a mud horse"It is such a bizarre story that has been circulated in many versions.

Version 1: The mud horse of the river crosses the King of Kang.

This version was found in 20"Said Yue Quanchuan": Northern Song Dynasty Jingkang first year (1126) spring, the first time the Jin soldiers besieged Kaifeng Mansion, the then Kang King Zhao Jiu went to the Jin camp as a hostage, the Jin soldiers followed it to the north, Zhao Jiu fled to Cizhou on the way, stayed overnight in the Cui Fu Jun Temple, the god dreamed that the Jin soldiers were coming, Zhao Jiu woke up, saw a horse in front of the temple, and then rode a horse and galloped.

Jin Wugong chased King Kang to the river, Zhao Gong's horse jumped into the river, Jin Wugong under the guise of divine power, in fact, did not see Zhao Gong cross the river. After crossing the river and walking some more way, they stopped in a dense forest, and the horses pushed Zhao Gong off the ground, and then King Kang fled.

Zhao Gong took advantage of the moonlight to enter the forest, and saw that there was a temple in the forest, which was also Cui Fujun's temple. Zhao Gou walked into the temple and found that there was a manger in the temple, in which lay a mud horse, and the horse and mud body he was riding were dyed colored by the water. Just as Zhao Yang was about to take a closer look at the horse, it turned into a puddle of muddy water. Zhao Yang thought that this was heaven helping him, so he immediately prayed and made a wish, and then slept in the temple.

Version 2: The mud horse helps Zhao Gong cross the South River.

This edition is included in the "Records of the Two Dynasties": In the second year of Jingkang in the Northern Song Dynasty (1127), the Jin soldiers invaded Bianliang and captured Huizong, who disappeared in the north. Soon after, they sent an army of 100,000 to invade the south, and when they learned that the Song Dynasty was ruled by King Kang, they sent a letter to King Kang, asking him to come to Jinying to negotiate peace, because they wanted to take the opportunity to capture King Kang.

When King Kang met with the minister, the traitorous minister Wang Yun persuaded King Kang to go to peace talks for the sake of the country and the people, so Zhao Gou appointed Wang Yun as a deputy envoy to go to peace talks with King Kang. When they arrived in Xiangzhou, Zhao Gou and his entourage met Zong Zheng Zongze, who heard that King Kang was going to Jinying for peace talks, and strongly opposed it. Wang Yun saw that it was impossible to go on like this, so with the help of Jin Bing, he wanted to force Zhao Gou to go. Zong Ze killed Wang Yun in anger, but Zhao Gou had no fear and rode back.

When Zhao Gou, the king of Kang, learned that Wang Yun had been killed, Zhao Gou fled, and hurriedly led his troops to chase after him, but was stopped by Zong Ze. King Kang Zhao Gou felt that Bianliang could not hold it, so he bypassed Bianliang and continued south until the Yangtze River. At this time, the horse that Zhao Gong was riding was exhausted, so he had to find a place to rest first.

Zhao Jiu inquired with the people, only to know that he had arrived in Taixing County, and the Jin soldiers in the south of Taixing County had become an empty city, with only two old monks, and only one remained"Engodo"The temple, there are also two earthen horses at the entrance of the temple. Zhao Jiu walked into the main hall of the temple, knelt in front of the Buddha statue, prayed secretly, asked the Buddha for protection, and then lay down on the mattress tiredly, and fell into a deep sleep.

At the time of the two watches, the Jin soldiers who broke through the blockade of the Song army also killed the county seat of Taihang, and dozens of Jin soldiers entered the temple to search. King Kang woke up and hid behind the Buddha statue. After searching several times, Jin Bing found that there were only two old monks in the temple, guessed that Zhao Jiu had crossed the river, and left.

When King Kang saw Jin Bing leaving, he felt that his scalp was numb and his spirit was about to attack, and he suddenly felt someone shouting in his ear in the fog"Get on your horse, the pursuers are here again"。King Kang was taken aback, but said anyway"The horses were exhausted, how to escape for their lives"。And the voice said:"I've got the horses ready, you just have to speed up and don't hesitate.

Zhao Jiu ran to the front of the temple, saw a horse next to the steps, hurriedly turned over and continued to flee south, to the Yangtze River, but there was no ferry, and the pursuers were in hot pursuit. Zhao Jiu thought that he would definitely die, but the horse refused to jump directly into the river, and actually carried Zhao Jiu all the way down the Yangtze River, escaping death. When Zhao Jiu wanted to lead the horse again, he saw that the horse had turned into a clay figure, which was the clay horse he saw in front of the Taixing Yuanwu Temple, so he hurriedly saluted the clay horse, and then got up and left.

Version 3:"Mama Li"became"Mud Mom"。

After the fall of the Northern Song Dynasty, Zhao Ziyu ascended the throne in Yingtianfu (now Shangqiu, Henan) in Nanjing and fled south to pursue the Jin soldiers. Later, Zhao was once chased to the north bank of the Yellow River, his horse was tired and died, Jin Bing did not have his own horse, how could he carry the iron horse, Zhao thought that he was going to die this time. But he didn't want his loyal son Li Ma to be carried to the bank of the Yellow River at the expense of his life, so he crossed the river by boat to ensure that Zhao Jiu would survive.

So Zhao Jiu made it up"The mud horse defeated King Kang"story, boasting that he is the real Son of Heaven and has the help of the gods. Zhao Jiu was worried that Li Ma would tell the truth, so he ordered someone to seal his mouth with medicine, and soon killed Li Ma. Here it is"Li Ma"change"Mud horses"、"The mud horse takes the king of Kang"story.

The above is"King Conga on mud horseback"Three versions of the story. In fact, according to historical records, none of these three stories can be trusted, but due to the lack of information, in the past, such legendary stories were very popular, and even if the legends were bizarre, people believed them.
