**Guangdong News, February 4 (Reporter Wang Jian) The first phase of the Jinhai Highway Bridge and the second phase of the Zhuhai Intercity were opened simultaneously on the 3rd, marking the official operation of the intercity rail and expressway from Hengqin, Zhuhai to Jinwan Airport.
This double-line connection not only greatly improves Zhuhai's transportation network, but also provides a more convenient choice for citizens to travel during the Spring Festival.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Sixth Bureau of China Railway, the Jinhai Highway Bridge project starts from the Hongwan Interchange Hub of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Connecting Line in the north, and finally the Zhuhai Airport Expressway Airport West Interchange, with a total length of 263 km, the project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase of the project is currently completed and is 17136 kilometers, two-way six-lane, design speed of 100 kilometers per hour, of which the cross-sea section of the Jinhai Bridge is 1033 kilometers, it is the first cross-sea bridge with the same layer of road and railway in China.
The Zhuhai-Zhuhai Intercity Railway is an extension of the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway, starting from the Zhuhai Station of the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Intercity Railway in the east, passing through the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Modaomen Waterway at the Pearl River Estuary to the west, and finally to Zhuhai Airport, with a total journey of 3924 kilometers, the whole line has 10 passenger stations, the design speed is 100 kilometers per hour, in two phases of construction and opening to traffic.
It is reported that the Zhuhai Intercity Rail and Jinhai Highway Bridge project, as a key node under the "Belt and Road" strategy, is an important part of Zhuhai's integration into the national strategy of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. With the completion of the first phase of the Jinhai Bridge and the second phase of the Zhuhai Intercity Project, the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin has been integrated into the national highway and railway network, realizing rapid connectivity with Zhuhai Airport and making external travel more convenient, which not only promotes functional coordination and industrial linkage with Zhuhai Airport, Zhuhai Port and western Guangdong, but also expands the space for industrial development.
