Notre-Dame Cathedral is located on the Île de la Cité in Paris, where the beautiful gypsy girl Esmeralda and the ugly but kind-hearted Quasimodo live.

From 1163 AD, Bishop Maurice proposed to build Notre-Dame on the basis of two ancient churches on the Île de la Cité, and it was completed in 1300, nearly 140 years before and after. Over the centuries, Notre-Dame has suffered many disasters; Thanks to the publication of Victor Hugo**'s Notre-Dame de Paris in 1831, the July Dynasty decided to restore it in 1841, and it was not completed until 1864.

Standing on the Pont d'Alhibersi, you can get a panoramic view of Notre Dame Cathedral. In front of Notre-Dame de Paris, you can see Hugo's "three arches": the middle arch is "the gate of the Last Judgment; In the middle above the door, there is a seated statue of the Virgin Mary and Ascend Giovanni kneeling at his feet. The arch on the left is called the Gate of the Virgin, and the arch on the right is called the Gate of Santa Anna.

The church is 130 meters long, 48 meters wide and 35 meters high, and can accommodate about 9,000 people. **The huge round stained windows and the stained glass on the left and right sides have a series of breathtaking works of art. Countless sculptures and paintings on the walls of the church still tell stories from the Old Testament to worshippers and visitors to this day.

For centuries, Notre-Dame has been the site of major events and ceremonies in the religious, political and popular life of France

In 1302, Philip IV, in order to oppose the pope, convened a "general council" here with the participation of the burghers, marking the entry of the bourgeois burghers into political life;

In 1430, Paris fell to the English in the "Hundred Years' War", and King Henry VI of England, who had just turned 10 months old, was proclaimed King of France and crowned at Notre-Dame, and it suffered the first disgrace of the French nation; Later France won the Hundred Years' War.

In 1455, Joan of Arc's Ceremony was held here, washing away the national shame of France;

In 1654, Louis XIV held a coronation ceremony here, opening the "Age of the Sun Dynasty" and becoming the peak of the development of feudal kingship;

Louis XVI was crowned here in 1774, and only 15 years later, the bourgeois revolution broke out in France, and Louis XVI was guillotined;

On July 15, 1789, the French National Assembly and the city celebrated the victory of the storming of the Bastille the day before (July 14, 1789), marking the beginning of a new period of bourgeois rule;

On December 2, 1804, Napoleon was crowned emperor here;

In 1918, the citizens of Paris gave thanks to Our Lady for their victory in the First World War;

In 1945, the citizens of Paris celebrated the victory over fascist Germany;

In 1970 and 1974, memorial Masses were held at Notre-Dame Cathedral for General de Gaulle and Pompidou**;

The history of France for nine centuries is skimmed in front of Notre-Dame.

From the church**, the wide and stretched Notre-Dame Square is crowded with tourists. Looking back at Notre-Dame, you can feel the contrast between the modern square and the ancient church, and you can feel the harmony and unity.

The copper markers inlaid in the square are the zero kilometers of Paris, and the distance from Paris to various places is calculated from this starting point. Treading on the bronze sign at kilometer zero, and following the guidance of the light pole next to the road, we set out to explore and touch the history of Europe.
