The next bout of reigning WBA (Super), WBC, IBF and WBO Super Middleweight World Champion Saul Alvarez has been confirmed as he will take on fellow Mexican undefeated rising star of the WBC Super Middleweight Silver Belt Jaime Munguia on May 5 in Las Vegas, USA. Alvarez originally wanted to play Jermall Charlo, but the two sides have been negotiating for some time and unfortunately have not been able to reach an agreement.

Jamie Monguia (43-0, 34 KOs) is 27 years old and has a height of 183cm and an arm span of 183cm. He began his professional boxing career in 2013 and won the WBO Light and Middleweight Championship in 2018 before defending his title five times in a row until 2019. In 2020, he won the WBO middleweight intercontinental belt, and since then he has defended his title three times in a row. He won the WBC super middleweight silver belt in July 2023 by a points victory over Sergiy Derevyanchenko and just defended his WBC super middleweight silver belt by TKO John Ryder in the ninth round in January this year. Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) is 33 years old and has a 173cm height and 179cm reach. He began his professional boxing career in 2005 and has been defending his title in the Big Four Super Middleweight Championship since losing to WBA (Super) Light Heavyweight Champion Dmitry Bivol in May 2022 and defending his title in a trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin in September of the same year. In May 2023, he defeated Great Britain's John Ryder to defend his belt in four organizations again, having just defended his title in four organizations by a points victory over Jermell Charlo last September.
