Reading guide:On October 1, 1949, in the capital Tiananmen Square, a grand founding ceremony was held in New China. At about 3 o'clock in the afternoon, ** and other national leaders climbed the Tiananmen Tower together and announced to the world: "The People's Republic of China ** people ** was established today!" ”
At that time, on the tower of Tiananmen Square, in addition to the state leaders and representatives of the democratic parties, there was also a 25-year-old Cao Tie, a farmer from Henan, who witnessed this great moment.
According to Cao Tie's recollection: "At the founding ceremony, I stood in the third row behind the chairman, only two people apart from the chairman, and I heard him announce the founding of New China in a loud voice, and heard the cheers of the 300,000 people under the city tower!" Cao Tie said that this was the proudest, proudest, and most unforgettable moment in his life!
Cao Tie is not only young, but also an authentic farmer, why was he able to participate in the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China and be invited to Tiananmen Square to watch the ceremony?
In 1924, Cao Tie was born in a poor peasant family in Caozhuang Village, Jiaxian County, Henan Province.
In that era when warlords were fighting and the people were struggling to make a living, the only hope for the common people was to have a bowl of rice and be able to live, but this was sometimes an extravagant hope. On the way to escape the famine and ask for food, sometimes the whole family had less than a mouthful of food a day, and finally Cao Tie's grandmother was starved to death on the way to ask for food.
Later, when the Anti-Japanese War broke out, Caozhuang Village was occupied by the Japanese, and they burned, killed and looted everywhere, doing all kinds of evil. Cao Tie clearly remembered that a group of Japanese snatched the old hen of Aunt Zhang in the village, and stabbed her leg with a bayonet until blood flowed before leaving. The young Cao Tie saw it in his eyes and hated it in his heart, and from then on, he secretly swore that he must make the little devil pay the price and avenge the villagers in the village.
Caozhuang Village is located at the foot of Ziyun Mountain, the Ziyun Cliff Mountain in the mountain is high and dense, the terrain is dangerous, and it is a place where the Japanese army must pass. Cao Tie, who grew up here, decided to ambush the Japanese army here to avenge the villagers. After a few days of running in tandem, he said that more than a dozen young people in the village were moved, and they came to the Ziyun Cliff to ambush them with old shotguns, broadswords, spears, etc.
When a Japanese team of 7 people walked here, Cao Tie took the lead in shooting and killing a devil, followed by the earthen spears and spears in the hands of other young people, and before they could react to what was going on, they all went to the western sky. When the news came back to the village, the villagers applauded, and Cao Tie also won the reputation of "Cao Daring".
After eight years of arduous anti-Japanese war, the Chinese people finally drove the Japanese out of China, and the people of Caozhuang Village thought that they would be able to live a good life, but they did not expect to make bandits again. Before the liberation, there were more than 30 bandits in Jiaxian, large and small, who kidnapped tickets for extortion, killed people and set fires, and did all kinds of evil, even sparing the grain and livestock of the poor people, causing the people to be frightened all day long.
In 1947, the People's Liberation Army came to Jiaxian County and began to exterminate the bandits entrenched here, and the county also set up a bandit suppression brigade. In the process of suppressing bandits, Cao Tie was brave and good at fighting, calm and calm, and could always destroy the enemy by surprise, and made countless meritorious contributions.
At the beginning of 1949, the anti-bandit brigade waited for an important piece of information that a group of bandits were secretly meeting on the top of the old man of Lotus Mountain in Jiaxian, preparing to destroy the people of the county. In order to eliminate this group of bandits, the bandit brigade immediately went out, surrounded Lao Yeding, and had a fierce battle with the bandits. Due to the dangerous terrain of Lao Yeding, the bandit brigade was unable to attack the top of the mountain.
At a critical juncture, Cao Tie took the initiative to ask for help, led 16 death squads, climbed to the top of the mountain at night, caught the bandits by surprise, and helped the large army to annihilate the bandits. During the battle, Cao Tie was shot in the right leg, and blood flowed, but he still insisted on fighting until all the bandits were annihilated, and then he withdrew to bandage his wounds.
After that, Cao Tie followed the People's Liberation Army to participate in more than a dozen battles against bandits, made countless meritorious contributions, joined the Communist Party, and was elected as the chairman of the local peasant association.
On the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China, a CPPCC meeting was to be convened, and the higher authorities decided to select 18 peasant representatives from all over the country to participate in the meeting. After several rounds of election and evaluation, Cao Tie, who had fought Japanese bandits and bandits, was elected as a peasant representative and went to Beijing to attend the first CPPCC meeting.
In Beijing, Cao Tie met the great man in his heart and the good prime minister of the people, which was a moment that he will never forget in his life. After the closing of the conference, a celebratory dinner was held, and Cao Tie, who was 25 years old at the time, was young and vigorous, and when he saw the chairman sitting at the table not far from him, he stood up and raised the wine glass above his head, and said loudly: "Toast to ***!" The sudden voice attracted the attention of the audience, and the chairman picked up the wine glass with a smile on his face and drank it all.
According to Cao Tie's recollection: "Later, other deputies toasted the chairman like me, but the chairman did not drink again. ”
On the second day, all the delegates attending the meeting were invited to the Tiananmen Tower to watch the founding ceremony, and Cao Tie was arranged in the third row behind the chairman to witness the process of the birth of New China.
After the ceremony, Cao Tie and other representatives were arranged to rest at the Beijing Hotel. On October 3rd, ** sent a representative to visit them and ask if they needed anything or needed help. Most of the delegates wanted to take some small items home as souvenirs, such as water cups and tea jars in restaurants, and some even asked for towels and pillowcases.
When the staff asked Cao Tie, he blurted out: "I don't need anything, it's just that I lack fire to fight bandits in my hometown." The staff didn't understand what Cao Tie meant by "lack of fire", Cao Tie smiled honestly and replied that it was a bullet. Originally, Cao Tie thought that the chairman would take care of every day, and he didn't have time to pay attention to his small things, so he didn't take this matter to heart.
Unexpectedly, the next day, someone really sent 600 rounds of ammunition, and specially explained that this was given to Cao Tie by the chairman, so that he could return to his hometown to continue fighting bandits. Cao Tie did not live up to the chairman's expectations, and after returning to his hometown, he continued to fight on the front line of the bandits, and in the course of three years of suppressing bandits, he used the 600 rounds of ammunition sent by the chairman to eliminate more than 400 bandits.
After returning to his hometown from Beijing, Cao Tie hid his merits and fame, and rarely mentioned going to Beijing to participate in the founding ceremony, toasting to *** and other things, and devoted himself to revolutionary work. He has successively served as the chairman of the Tang Block Farmers' Association, the head of Changqiao District, the chief of the Jiaxian Construction Section, the chairman of the County Agricultural Association, and the head of the county tractor station.
Cao Tie's position became smaller and smaller, and some people couldn't see it, so he asked him to report to his superiors, showing that he had made revolutionary merits and had obtained a higher official position. But Cao Tie was unmoved, in his opinion, as long as it is revolutionary work, as long as it is to serve the people, there is no distinction between high and low.
In his later years, Cao Tie always taught his descendants and said: "If there is no party, I am just a cattle herder, how dare I think that I can get a salary and live a good life in the future." At no time should you cause trouble to the organization because of personal matters. ”
In the 80s of the last century, after Cao Tie retired, the county saw that his children were still farmers, so they offered to solve the problem of work and household registration for them, but Cao Tie refused. He said: "They don't have that much material to discredit the organization!" he said. ”
Closing Remarks:
Cao Tie is a typical good cadre of the first period, selfless, self-denial, and serving the people wholeheartedly, such a cadre is a blessing for a country, and it is also the cornerstone of the rise of a nation.
On January 5, 2019, Cao Tie died of illness at the age of 95.
