In May 1935, he was appointed to the rank of colonel of the Army Artillery of the National Revolutionary Army.
In December 1936, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff and Chief of Staff of the Headquarters of the 38th Division of the 29th Army.
At the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, he led his troops to participate in the battle against the Japanese army. Later, he served as chief of staff and deputy division commander of the 38th Division Headquarters of the 59th Army, and led his troops to participate in the anti-Japanese war in North China.
In April 1943, he served as the commander of the 53rd Division of the 59th Army of the 33rd Group Army of the Fifth Theater of Operations, and later led his troops to participate in the Battle of Central Henan and the Battle of Northern Hubei.
During the civil war, he served as the commander of the 38th Brigade of the 59th Division of the Third Pacification Zone.
