At 10:20 on March 2, at the construction site of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Lake Railway in Songjiang District, Shanghai, the first pair of 500-meter-long steel rails began to be laid, marking the start of the whole line of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Lake Railway.

The total length of track laying on the whole line of the Shanghai-Suzhou-Lake Railway is 450 kilometers, and 209 groups of turnouts are laid, and there are many rivers and lakes along the way, the terrain and geology are complex, and the track-laying construction has the characteristics of many adjacent business lines, high operation accuracy requirements, tight track-laying construction period, and large safety risks.

The construction of the project adopts two sets of track laying machines at the same time, and there will be 800 people working at the same time during the peak period, and the maximum track laying can be 12 kilometers in a single day. The Shanghai-Suzhou-Lake Railway plans to complete the track-laying construction of the whole line by the end of June this year, and then transfer to the stage of static acceptance, joint commissioning and joint test, and is expected to have the conditions for opening and operation by the end of this year.

The Shanghai-Suzhou-Lake Railway is a fast railway channel connecting Shanghai, Suzhou, Huzhou and other cities, with a total length of 1638 kilometers with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. After completion and operation, it will further improve the layout of the regional road network and effectively relieve the transportation pressure of the Shanghai-Nanjing and Shanghai-Hangzhou railway corridors, which is of great significance for promoting the economic and social development along the route and the integrated high-quality development of the Yangtze River Delta.
