Mondo Health Updated on 2024-01-19

In winter, when the snow is falling, three or five friends sit around the table, and "charcoal hot pot" and "tea brewing around the stove" have become the best choice for gatherings. After entering the winter, carbon monoxide poisoning caused by "charcoal hot pot" and "cooking tea around the hearth" is not uncommon. Carbon monoxide is produced by the incomplete combustion of carbon-containing substances, eating charcoal hot pot indoors, cooking tea around the stove, if the doors and windows are closed, poor ventilation, colorless and odorless carbon monoxide is like a "silent killer", quietly infringing on people's health and life.

Experts from the Yantai Center for Disease Control and Prevention reminded the general public and friends: eat charcoal hot pot indoors, cook tea around the stove, remember to open the windows for ventilation, and have a sense of atmosphere in winter, but also a sense of security.

How can I prevent carbon monoxide poisoning while enjoying my food?Experts from the Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention gave the following suggestions:

1.Do not use charcoal fire to eat hot pot or make tea around the stove in a closed room. Poor ventilation in the living room can easily cause carbon monoxide poisoning, and even if it is fully burned, the indoor oxygen content continues to drop, which is also harmful to health.

2.Install an exhaust hood above the carbon stove where you eat hot pot to absorb the carbon monoxide produced by the incomplete combustion of carbon substances in time. Try to quit smoking during the meal, otherwise it is easy to increase the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.

3.It is recommended to replace the "charcoal hot pot" and "hearth" with electrical appliances that do not produce carbon monoxide, such as induction cookers, electric hot pots, etc.

4.If possible, install carbon monoxide alarms in areas where carbon monoxide may be generated.

Experts remind: once someone is found to be poisoned by carbon monoxide, while doing a good job of self-protection, you should immediately open the doors and windows and lift the poisoned person to a place with air circulation. Call 120 in time and wait for professional rescue.
