The traction substation sends the electrical energy from the power system through the high-voltage transmission line to the traction network over the railway. The traction network is composed of a feeder, a catenary and a reflow network. The catenary is the core of the traction network, which is responsible for the direct transmission of electrical energy to the electric locomotive, and can be seen as the artery of the electrified railway.

The electric locomotive uses the pantograph on the roof of the car to obtain electrical energy from the catenary and pull the train for operation. The catenary is composed of catenary wires and catenary products, because there are many types of catenary products, involving power transmission and transformation, machinery manufacturing and other subdivided industries, and the key products in the catenary products are the core of the catenary system, and its quality and performance directly determine the stability of the catenary system, so China has licensed the production and sales of important catenary products.

Electrified railway catenary products are mainly placed on both sides of the railway in the suspension mode, and the suspension mode is mainly divided into two types: flexible suspension and rigid suspension. At present, the chain suspension method in flexible suspension is the mainstream method in the industry.

The chain suspension reduces the relaxation of the contact line in the middle of the span, improves the elasticity, increases the suspension weight, and improves the stability, which can meet the requirements of the high-speed operation of the electric locomotive. In addition to the chain suspension method, rigid suspension catenary products such as busbars are also used in electrified railways in tunnels and other environments. Electrified railway catenary products need to adapt to the requirements of electrified railway driving at different speeds, and can be divided into catenary products used in high-speed railways and catenary products of other lines.

The high-speed railway has high running speed and high tension, high requirements for the technical level and performance stability of catenary products, complex product manufacturing process and strict inspection, so high-speed railway catenary products represent the highest technical level in the industry.
